It is what I can get locally when I run out, but not cheap. If you get to portland it is fun to go to their shops and taste. But redbird is a much better price for something that I like better or at the very least can pull better shots with.

This topic is very timely for me. Recently I have been travelling and in between bags from my favorite local roaster so in a pinch I found a nice low cost blend that I made from a couple cans of Trader Joes beans. I live next to a Trader Joes and I bought their Fair Trade Bolivian Blend and Costa Rican Peaberry. I found blending 2:1 respectively, e.g., 2/3 Bolivian and 1/3 Peaberry works. It is drinkable as straight espresso but not as good as I am used to so I have making milky drinks and have them along with a double espresso in the mornings and I am happy. The peaberry really makes it drinkable, it has so much fruity flavor. The Bolivian is not something I would want to drink by itself. This experiment has made me want to some further trials of some of their other coffees with the Peaberry to see if I can make something even better. The cans cost me 6.99 and 7.99 each for around 12 or 14 oz. Not bad for drinkable espresso.
