I've been burning through a big bag of Liquid Amber that I've had since before the current "release"--and it is good! Anyone here who gets it each "release/season" and have any feedback on the current iteration? Spot on? Not as good?

I'm not sure when they changed "Release" but I first bought it several years back(prior to the Workshop Blends at least), and obtained the most amazing shots I've ever pulled. I ordered some late last year(?) and I had problems with some of the beans being WAAAY under-roasted, while the others had reached 2C.(roasted on a behmor) I think there is a thread on the home-roasting page somewhere about this problem. These under-roasted beans detracted from the flavor. The suggested fix involved something like taking the beans to 1C, stopping and cooling, then re-roasting(you may want to hunt it down before attempting). It helped some, but did not match the nirvana of those shots years ago.
Again I'm not sure where my batches fall in the "release" schedule, but in my experience, the one from several years ago was vastly superior.

I've only been using it for the last 3 months so I can only say that compared to the other SM espresso blends its really good when roasted on a Nesco. Its our favorite for espresso and we have tried most of them. Also we don't see any problems with the roast.

After three days rest had my first cup yesterday. Quite pungent and quite good. Have to say very different somhow. I'm trying to pin down the white bean in the blend. Weird. Can anyone venture a guess. I did take them to Vienna per Tom's suggestion and its great as a wet Macchiato. Very pungent, very long taste that sticks with you.

I've been roasting Liquid Amber for about four years, and I haven't noticed any underroast problems. It's my go-to espresso. Love it straight, and, as genecounts said, it makes an outstanding wet macchiato.
The palest bean is the monsooned India Malabar. I have done my best to analyze this blend, but I don't have access to that info right now. Tom tells a good deal on the SM page. There are five types in the blend.
I separated bean types (easy were the monsooned, robusta [Vietnam or India?], and Indo), weighed them on a gram scale, and have an approximate guess as to the ratios. There's Indo of some kind (Sumatra or Sulawesi or both)--apparently wet-processed. Finally there's some dry-processed in there, and I'd suppose it's Brazil.
To make five, I suspect there's 1) either two Indos + DP Brazil; or 2) a DP Brazil, WP Brazil, and a WP Indo. I'm pretty positive on four of these beans, but the fifth is guess. (Though who knows which lot?!)

I really liked the Liquid Amber even though I got it at the end of the 2 week from roast window. It gave amazing crema and tasted great to my untrained pallet. This coffee blend makes me want to roast. But I will resist the urge.
