OK, so I know I might sound like a shill for Jeff -- not that he needs one, mind you -- but I'm working my way through his latest offering: Ethiopian Yirgacheffe. Again, it's a real winner in my book. I've been using it mostly as a single origin espresso, and it's wonderfully rich and complex, thick, with lots of body and crema -- really nice fruity nose with hints of cocoa, leading to loads of rich chocolate on the palate and finish (think really high quality 50-60% cocoa -- in other words, not Hershey's Milk, but not the 70%+ bars of Valrhona bittersweet either).
Then again, I'm a sucker for a good Ethiopian, and -- it seems -- I'm a sucker for Jeff's coffees. So far, he has done no wrong by me . . .

I got this coffee in on Thursday and started playing with it Friday morning. I immediatly discovered it likes to be pulled a little tighter. If your grind setting is set for a standard normale, you might get shots that are a little astringent. I get Peaches and Milk Chocolate with 18 grams in, 21 grams out over 28 seconds. As expected, this coffee is a little lighter in body so a steeper brew ratio is complimentary.
If you can't get good shots with this coffee, you're still in luck. It's very pleasant in the press pot and works quite well in the Aeropress. The peaches come out across all brewing options and are easily distinguishable. You hear the descriptor "Stonefruit" tossed around a lot by roasters, and if you are confused by this, or have never experienced it, here is your chance!

I bought some Ethiopian from a different roaster (part of a sampler pack) and I am so intrigued by the aroma and flavor, especially as french press. When I order my 5lb of Espresso, I will also add a pound of this one to see how it goes - free shipping if I'm getting the other bag!
