The current Handsome espresso, Fisticuffs, has been in and out of my grinder for the past week. It's the same Don Medardo bean they have as a brewed coffee offering, roasted more for espresso extraction. I've found it to be tart, with a bit of lingering sweetness, and some undertones of bitter cinnamon. Others have likened it to baked apples, or apple pie (I don't find it that sweet). I have to wonder, though, if it was developed for updosed shots. My 14 gram extractions almost always result a bit on the acidic side, which makes for a fairly tasty and crisp shot, but gets lost in any amount of milk. I've pulled a few ristrettos though, that really brought out more sweetness, and of course, body, making me think that a short capp with a triple ristretto (~2 oz. of liquid), would be quite a tasty experience. I might save some of this for the BDB road trip, to see how it pulls with more grammage.
