I'm becoming a fan of single bean espresso since I started roasting at home, and I find myself alternating between Ethiopian Yirgacheffe and Brazilian Mont Carmelo. I've tried beans from Sumatra and Columbia, finding them too mild for my liking, and I've tried beans from Kenya, where I didn't like the bitter taste.
I'm roasting to a Full City + / Vienna so the roasting effect doesn't overpower the coffee taste.
I'm looking for bean recommendations from other SBE users.

I've really been liking the Zambia - have you tried that one? It's rich and smooth and not so much of the bitter aftertaste. We also just got in some Gautemala Trapichitos - good stuff! Let us know what else you're trying? What self-roasting method are you using?

JustH - I'm using a FreshRoast, which is pretty much ideal for a beginner, and I'm starting to get consistent results. I'll probably modify it to put a temperature probe into the bean mass, but I don't see myself upgrading in the next six months.
