Will take 6-7 days to get to my home. Will these beans be stale by then. I notice some roasts seem to keep longer than others. I'm hoping to at least get the goods for at least a couple days before this coffee gets stale. Anyone have good experiences with MG?
It really depends on when they actually roasted the coffee. If it was roasted 6 days ago, and its going to take another 6 days to get to you, yeah, it might be a little stale once you get it. On the other hand, if they roasted it the day you ordered it, bagged it and shipped it that day, it'll likely be in its prime spot when it arrives at your door!
I've pulled Malabar Gold 7 days after roast. Shots looked great, good body, but the flavor wasn't there. Then I pulled some Malabar Gold shots that were a few weeks after roast and the shots tasted much better. All those years I've been getting less than optimum flavor by pulling shots 7 days after roast which I thought was long enough after roast date. In this collage some shots have a different color which is due to the light under which photo was taken.
Nice pics. Well I had a couple shots this morning and I must say i'm very impressed with MG. Although my extraction time is a little quick i'm very pleased with the taste. The taste is mild, sweet, complex without even a hint of sourness. The crema is more abundant than any blend i've had thus far. I would image a naked PF would yield even more crema. Does anyone know of a east coast roaster who roasts Malabar Gold? the roaster I bought from was in Oregon, and I live in South FL.

I have roasted Indian Monsoon Malabar and was told to wait minimum of 7 days before tasting, it was good after 7 days but after 14 it was amazing and improved each day after that until I ran out. The amount of crema produced by these beans was amazing. I will definitely be putting more of these on my shopping list.

mlunn01, in case you're still reading this thread . . . I buy my Malabar Gold from Bean Central (www.beancentral.com). They are in Tennessee, much closer to you, and I've been happy with their product. And 5 pound bulk bags come with free shipping! They are the roaster that Whole Latte Love uses for their Malabar Gold (or at least, they were at the time I bought my espresso maker and got a sample bag of MG).
