What are your impressions of this blend?
I tried a macchiato at their NYC location a few days ago. In milk, the shot came through strong and strident, smoky, no fruitiness or delicacy to it....not that this is a bad thing, I enjoy straightforward and bold espresso. I took a pound of beans home (it's also pretty low cost...my total bill with the macc and pound of beans came to around $12!) and pulled some shots on my gaggia (the MAC still isn't ready for prime-time), the shots came through a bit more on the acidic side, with some light snap, but still very dark, bold, and strong. The beans have some oil on them, definitely roasted on the dark side. The head barista told me that this blend is ideal between 4-9 days post-roast. They don't disclose what beans they use...keeps the sense of mystery high I suppose :)
