Subject: Where to find Barista events in my area?

Hi. I'm pretty new to this scene. I've been loving coffee for a while, but lately have been taking it to the next level (home roasting, just bought first espresso machine). For a long time, I've wanted to learn a lot more with some little barista type training.

Without finding official training places that cost an arm and a leg, I'd like to find local free barista events. Possibly learn through these events.

What are the organizations and/or websites to check? I'd like to find out what may be going on in my area (Seattle). I don't really find anything when I google. Any tips on how to search? Where to look?

I would also love to watch certain kind of barista events. But unfortunately, can't find one here as well.

Will a barista in Starbucks can be similar to the baristas in events?

Although I'd love to watch some, I was more hoping for something like a little learning. Get some coffee geeks together and those that know showing those that don't a little bit. That's what I was hoping for.
