Looking forward to seeing some of you here!

The time has once again come for the Mountain Regional Barista Competition. Allegro will be hosting the 2009 MRBC from January 16th-18th 2009 at the same location as last year in Thornton (1500 E. 128th Ave., Thornton, CO 80241-2602). The 2008 MRBC was in March, but the 2009 World Barista Championship is going to be held in conjunction with the SCAA’s annual conference in Atlanta which means that the US Championship needs to be held as a standalone competition. The USBC is going to be held from March 5th-8th in Portland, so all of the regional competitions need to be completed before March this year and that’s a long explanation for why the competition is so early.

I’m keeping http://mrbaristacomp.blogspot.com updated again this year, so check that blog for the most updated info on Mr. barista competition. The judge’s registration forms aren’t out yet and probably won’t be available until December, but if you think you are going to judge please let me know and I’ll make sure you receive the documents as soon as I receive them.

There are some rule changes for this year! Possibly the biggest change is that you no longer have to serve all 4 drinks at once! You can now serve drinks to just 2 judges and we will evaluate them immediately without the competitor losing points (and hopefully providing us with better drinks). I think the other rule changes are great too, so check them out.

Please let me know if you have any questions and please pass along this information and the web address to anyone you think might be interested. I will post all updates, flyers, and forms to the website so try and check it occasionally.

I look forward to another great MRBC and hopefully seeing you there!

I missed it last year and it stinks but I'll miss it this year as well. What really sucks, is I live only a mile away from allegro!

A couple of us are planning to make the road trip out there from Nebraska. Could help as time keepers or judges if you still need some volunteers.  Looking forward to it. Thanks for posting the videos on your blog.

I'm not one of the organizers, although I'll probably be a sensory judge and volunteer for setup/cleanup too.

Email Mike or Hugo to inquire about participation. Contact info for them is at the bottom of the blog, they'll be happy to hear from you.
