Subject: will pump water out of the steam wand but only a trickle whilst brewing.

I have a Delonghi EC702 that has begun to brew very poorly. I may have used too fine a ground at the time but after I did the coffee would only trickle out of the portafilter. I thoroughly cleaned the machine which is only 6 mos. old to no avail. As Delonghi would not honor the warranty due to my purchasing it new in the box on ebay from a private party,(last Delonghi product I'll ever own) I took apart the Ukla pump and cleaned it, however, not much to clean as it's so new. When I use the steam wand the pump seems to have a strong flow but it only exits the group head in a trickle. The group head valve is clean and unobstructed so I am stymied as to what may be the problem. I have noticed that when I select the machine to prepare steam for frothing the return line into the reservoir is moving a lot of air into it. I don't know if this is normal. Also, I did not take apart the white plastic part that T-s into the output of the pump as I did not know how to disassemble it without breaking it to clean it. I have attached a photo.
Please help me.

As far as I know the DeLonghi EC702 comes with a pressurized portafilter. This might contribute to your problem.
