I was reading the CG article on Viatnamese Iced Coffee the other day, and decided I wanted to give it a go (once the weather warms up a bit here in the UK!). I looked around for somewhere that sold the metal 'Phin' drippers. I ended up on the UK Trung-Nguyen site. I bought both sizes of 'Phin' and a bag of coffee (since I had to bump the order up to £7.50 minimum order). Very pleased with the order, but I am intrigued by the coffee.
I went with the Sang Tao 3 Arabica Se. It arrived ground for use in the 'Phin' and as soon as I opened the bag it hit me - this intense smell of Hazelnuts and Chocolate. It was so strong I figured the coffee must be either mixed with hazelnuts, or have flavours added - but ALL the info. I can find online, AND the packaging, claim that this is 100% Arabica Se.
Is anyone able to shed some light on this? If it is 100% Arabica, then I suggest you guys check this stuff out (Whole Beans are available) because it is extraordinary! The taste isn't nearly as powerful as the aroma, but it makes a fine cup of coffee!!
As soon as you sit down to a cup of hot coffee, your boss will ask you to do something which will last until the coffee is cold.
