I don't mind using a scale, as a matter of fact, I use one for every meal cause I track calories like a madman, just wanted to maybe use it 1 less time in the day haha. But as I said: According to: http://blackbearcoffee.com/resources/83 I should use 10.6 grams of ground for a 6 oz cup, how much would that be in beans, or is that up to the coffee itself and requires me to actually experiment?
I measure 6 oz of water in a measuring cup for every brew. Thanks for all the information so far folks, this "other side" of coffee really gets down on perfecting it.

It depends on the coffee. VERY large variation in coffee density.
I've found that if I get level aeropress scoop (around 30something milliliters) of beans, grind them and put them back into the scoop unpacked, it's roughly 1:1
However, the actual mass of coffee in a level aeropress scoop can vary between 11g to as much as 16g.
Abandon volume - use mass.

The weight of coffee doesn't change when you grind it, unless you leave grounds behind in your grinder. 10.6 grams of ground coffee is 10.6 grams of coffee beans. Weigh out your beans, grind, add water.
