Does anyone have an opinion on other drip coffee makers that rival the technivorm? has anyone tried the zojirushi? or the bonavita?
how do they compare to the technivorm?

The Behmor Brazen is going to destroy the Technivorm.

Sorry to hear about the carafe on your Clarity - I am looking through my collection to see what is close. Menwhile, here below is a link to a 17 page thread about the Bonavita BV-1800 - the short version: it rocks.

Rivals the TV, brews hotter than the Zojirushi.

I bought my coffee loving Son-in-Law a Bonavita for Christmas. They love it. They wanted something to use when company came over. He had a lot of questions and called their service line to ask them and he said they answered all he asked and more, they knew their product.

Personally, I'm aiming at the Brazen. I like the idea, a lot. I hope sometime, somewhere, I can see a demo. It might be a bit more than some people want to play with in a drip coffee maker.

I saw another shower head electric somewhere, I forget where it was, look a bit more like the Brazen than the others I've seen but looked cheaply made.

The world needs more outstanding coffee.

do you game?:

The Bonavita, Technivorm, and Bodum are all great options. The upcoming Brazen appears to have the best feature set. It gives you much of the control that makes manual brewing so appealing, but does it automatically and with a large batch size. I do not own a drip machine, but have been shopping for one over the last month, as I sometimes struggle to keep up with the the coffee needs when we have a large group visiting. I can only make so many Chemex pots in a row!

still no mention of the zojirushi.... the intial reviews looked good, but ???

I agree with the concensis of order so far:  (lazy electric drip machines)

1)Brazen
2)Technivorm
3)melita clarity/bonavita

too bad I don't want to spend more than $100, even though I have close to 2 grand 'invested' in espresso gear. sick yes??

At $199, the Brazen seems like the most bang for your buck, but the Bonavita appears to be 100% up to the job (and then some) at a slightly cheaper price point.

Not sure there is any consensus at all.  The brazen doesn't exist outside of this forum so a conservative "too early to tell" is all I ever would give something till production is out there to try and buy.  The TV is nice, but it has some flimsy components - coffee is good though.  The Bonavita is built better than the Clarity - I have working versions of both to compare - no shower head mod needed either compared to the Clarity.  Bunn makes some nice $100 or less brewers - check out reviews here for the Bunn NHBX-B and PhaseBrew for example. I have the Bunn NHBX-B and find it very worthy of consideration at any budget.

I did get a warm endorsement for the Zojirushi from one vendor - my tea merchant sells them but he also thinks coffee is "muddy water" and will not drink the stuff...
