I want to place a mat on the bottom of my Cellini and Mazzer Mini, so I can keep my counter top tidy, especially when coffee grind is flying everywhere. I've thought of cork, but feel like cork in general is too porous. I was thinking maybe thick rubber material (think of a much thicker Yoga mat), but those are pretty hard to find around. Especially when I only need a couple 2-3 yards at most. I've also seen some people use cutting boards, but I feel like that's a bit overkill. I've been to Home Depot, Lowes, etc w/ no luck.
Anyone have any suggestions on what material to use and where I can get it?

Find a cheap yoga mat. We had one and before you know it we were cutting it up for dog mats for their kennels, spacers, etc. Works great and is cheap.

I've discovered my Fiorenzato Bric occasionally overflows its drain cup and am afraid of it leaving some kind of residue on my quartz counters. So I'm looking at putting something underneath my machine as well. Was thinking of a dish drying mat like this OXO. It can double as a trivet (to 450 F) so heat isn't a problem.
Advantages include extreme temperature resistance.

PS: the color would be an issue for me. i would prefer something a bit "cleaner" looking rather than this pitch black sheet. silicone white would be nice but it is jarring on top of an attractive stone countertop :( Anyone has any other ideas?

Well, I won't recommend any mat to be placed near heat/fire source. It is too risky. If anything happens then you would repent on why you did it in the first place. Cleaning things are irritating I know, but don't put your life at stake because of that.

according to manufacturers, silicone pot holders seem to withstand heat rather well. i don't know know for sure, as silicone feels rubbery to me, but they do use silicone for oven mitts, pot holders, etc, and they mostly have claims up to an incredibly high temperature.
or, these very thin, silicone placemats are actually even better as they are completely smooth and even, without the possibility of items placed on it rocking:

My grinder makes a mess also because of the static. It's easier for me to clean the counter without a mat in place. Less nooks and crannies for the grounds to hide in.
