There's definitely a vacuum when I attempt to remove the lid soon after brewing. I also have air bubbles/steam coming out of the reservoir during the heating process with a full reservoir, so there's no pressure build up in the reservoir, but when the water begins to drain it lowers the pressure inside and slows down the flow to the point that all the water will not exit before the brewing cycle times out. Since I've been leaving the lid loose I've not had any residual water problems.
Here's hoping, because I really want this brewer to work.

When I received my second machine (again back in February and awesomeness since) one issue was with bubbles around the lid during heating. was not an issue on the second machine so it could be that the lid is ever-so-slightly warped. I think I remember posts on that way back in one of the other forums. I would recommend asking Behmor about the lid specifically.

There was a batch of bad lids that had not been properly "baked" by the manufacturer. If you're having problems, contact Behmor Support. Explain the situation and what you've found, they'll probably send you a new lid.

Thanks for the info. I probably will give the loose-lid work around a try for a while to see if that solves the residual water problem. So far it's a good fix. Ultimately I will contact Behmor if I feel the need for a new lid. I might also ask about the availability of a new carafe since the one that came with my unit gets as much coffee on the counter as in the mug. ;)
Again, given the quality of the coffee the Brazen delivers, I'm willing to live with a couple idiosyncrasies. I have already had contact with Behmor customer service on a separate matter, (wanted an additional brew basket) and could not be more satisfied with their response.
If you had spent more time on this forum you would know that Joe Behm, the developer and owner of the company, also makes and sells the Behmor 1600 Coffee Roaster, an excellent piece of gear at the right price-point and has captured a SUBSTANTIAL piece of the household roaster market. But more than that, he has built his business plan around excellent service and ...not advertising... but word-of mouth recommendation. It is an admirable policy that is taking root in other businesses.
Adam, I agree with all, except, I also own a Bunn STX, and while as pretty good brew that brews pretty good coffee FAST (it's main attraction) I can assure you it's NOT without it's own issues, mainly variable coffee temperature when finished, mainly due to the volume you choose to brew. That is NOT an issue with the BraZen. The "in the cup" comparison? BraZen significantly more complexity, like drinking a less concentrated espresso.
Just buy it- you'll love it. I've only had mine for a month or so and it replaced my capresso coffeetec that I had for 7 years. I never really achieved the quality I expected with the capresso, but the behmor produces one excellent cup. Sure it dribbles when I pour, so I take off the lid first and pour over a sink. Big deal. I also only fill my water reservoir to the calibration line, and with 30 g of coffee it still produces a great cup. I'm a huge fan of my behmor roAster, and an equally big fan of my brazen. I fuss over a lot of things coffee related, but drips aren't one of them.
The calibration line is 600ml (21oz), the second line is 900ml (just over 31oz) and the top line is 1.2l or just over 42oz. Best test for a bean is to do a full pot providing the most water going through the bean but I mostly do 600ml runs and its awesome at that level. The standard for measuring coffee is 55grams for each litre of water so I grind 33 or 34 grams of coffee for a calibration line brew
