Subject: Grounds caked around O-Ring on Ring Burr
 

My new grinder is a Virtuoso---been in daily use since Feb 21 and cleaned weekly. QUESTION: Is it normal to have grounds caked around the O-Ring (on the outer side of the Ring Burr)?

I'm careful cleaning this area due to the O-Ring being a flexible, soft type rubber material---I use an 'ultra soft' toothbrush which works great.

I looked thru the Trouble Shooting info on Baratza's web site, also printed off the "Parts List and Exploded Views" of Exterior and Interior Parts. Great stuff to have for getting to know your grinder.

Yes, this is normal. I have the Preciso, which is pretty much the same grinder. I clean my grinder after every different coffee (12-24 oz.) and always find grinds (to varying degrees) caked on this rubber O-ring. A soft brush to loosen them and a few seconds with the vacuum cleaner removes them safely. Hope this helps and take care!
