French Press. I think its continuing popularity is due to low cost and the number of posts that come up on searches. I my opinion, it is an obsolete coffee-making appliance. Sure, it is easy to use and costs very little (comparatively speaking) but the amount of sludge in the coffee and the bitterness it creates is intolerable to me. There are better choices:

Hey Randy,

Ever try an Espro double micro filter (9-12 times finer than a common FP) French press?
This is a new IMO long overdue upgrade in French press coffees quality: http://espro.ca/espro-press/

Not cheap, but it's all about the resultant quality in the cup., & of course the quality of these FP's are top notch.

I'm sure this would change your mind. {;-)

Hey Craig,

You might want to visit Randy's site.  He did an awesome review of the Espro press.  In fact, that was what made me buy mine.

If I had of known that, I wouldn't of mentioned this to Randy.

I've been there many times, but not recently., & not yet as I'm in the middle of dinner..

P.S. Gee Ron, I don't know HOW I missed Randy's excellent review of this Espro press!
Guess I was too involved with the BraZen & other things at the time when I bought my two Espro presses back around the beginning of Dec..
