Hi! I work for BUNN and am the proud owner of a trifecta MB. Hopefully I can learn more about brewing exceptional coffee with the group.
Rusty Angell (former barista and our Field Correspondent) will be hosting a webinar next week that may be of interest. Below are the details. Hope to "see" you there.
Turbulence in Brewing Join us for a Webinar on March 12 Space is limited. Reserve your Webinar seat now at:
Please do! I was able to jump in a bit late (sometime life gets in the way of life) and stayed pretty much until the end. Rusty did a great job and covered a lot of turbulence related information. There were lots a great slides that I would love to refer to later. I must say, that Trifecta commercial brewer is looking better and better. Thanks again to you and Randy for arranging the webinar. Take care!

...Loosen the screw that hold the check valve cover plate on the underside of the shower head. Phillips screw head is probably full of coffee grounds and need to be cleaned a bit first. There is a small indent for your fingernail on the right edge of the plate to pry it loose/down. If the two check valves don't come out with the plate, grab them with your fingers and take them out of the shower head. Clean both well, along with the plate/screen holes and the two holes in the shower head that the valves actually press into. The valve with the black O-Ring (water inlet) goes in the right hole and the valve with the red O-ring (air inlet) goes in the left hole. I usually push the two check valves into their respective holes in the shower head first and then place the cover plate on and screw it in...
Anyone happen to know if there's anything different about the check valve for the "air inlet" aside from the color of its o-ring? Was thinking of changing it out, but all of my spare check valves have black o-rings. I'll ask Amanda tomorrow--just figured I might get an answer before then by posting here. Thanks in advance!

Feels like that to me, too (thanks). The springs inside do seem to be slightly different (red one's appears to be thinner-gauge IIRC). Hmm, maybe I'll hold off on replacing that check valve then. Will report back with the official word.

I actually had mine switched for a few days after the first time that I cleaned them, until Amanda confirmed the correct placement. Can't say that I noticed any difference in the operation, but it makes sense the thinner spring check valve should go with the air and not the water. Less spring resistance on the water valve might increase the chance of some coffee grounds getting in there and then air entry causing the water to be backed up into the reservoir. Take care!

Yes, the check valves are different. redkiosk is correct that the one with the red/ orange o-ring goes on the left side. I'd suggest waiting on replacing until we can get you the correct valve.
