Cona tabletop model "A" arrived this morning - eBay from Germany. Been wanting one for ages to complete the set (to add to the B's, C's D's and Rex(es). Very small - only just over 250ml capacity. Actually, despite being made in Germany, they were designed in the UK in pre-metric days, so it is 1/2 pint imperial - 10oz)
Brand new in box, old stock. There were 2 up for auction, but the other one went for far more than I was prepared to pay.
Tried it out, and TBH, wasn't happy with the resulting brew. Bitter and over-extracted, despite using the same coffee/grind/water:coffee ratio and time as with the larger ones. Maybe this tiny one overheats (didn't check the temperature in the top) or maybe the Cona design just doesn't scale down well. Process worked fine as it should, with nice quick draw down. Has the glass rod filter as with all the UK and German made Conas. (The French manufactured ones generally have a cloth type filter).
The Model "A" hasn't been available new for some time, so perhaps there's a good reason, although neither is the "B" (1 pint Imperial) and that works just fine. Beautiful classic retro look though, like the rest of the range.
Not worried though. Only bought it as a trophy to complete the set. As they are next to unobtainable, would be scared to use it anyway, and the occasions when I want only that amount of coffee aren't very frequent ;o)

I have been using a Sunbeam C30 vacuum brewer more often than I thought I would since purchasing it recently. I makes a very good pot of coffee and the mirror chrome finish with black Bakelite handles, lid and base looks fantastic to me.
I chew coffee beans with my teeth while gargling with 195 F water to enjoy coffee. What is this "coffee brewing" device you speak of?
