Posted Sun Oct 28, 2012, 4:55pm Subject: Vac pot mystery solved.
Received my first vac pot last week. A Yama stovetop 5 cup. After a number of pots I could just not get it to work right. Had a couple of stalls and the pots that did completely return to the lower pot took minutes not the seconds everyone posts. Thought it was my grind or some fault in my process. The resulting pots were not wonderful. My wife joked that our kitchen looked like a meth lab with me trying to figure out what I was doing wrong.
Today I noticed a small crack in the tube on the upper pot under the large black gasket that connects the pots. Must have been there from the beginning and been removing the vacuum action that should be occurring.
