At any rate, my experience with Behmor has been totally positive, and I think they will strand behind the early production problem units.

My SN# A000026 Brazen went out again several months ago; I'm curious if this is true as I've contacted support as well.

Are you saying that you have just recently contacted them, or that they did not provide satisfaction when the machine quit working several months ago?

If the latter is the case, perhaps they now have a better understanding of the problem with the valves and will be willing to replace your unit at this time.

It's a shame that this innovative brewer has had early production problems since it produces such great coffee. Unfortunately there is a danger that a damaged reputation because of the early units may jeopardize the survival of the product. This is despite the excellent customer service from the company. I hope that the number of defective units does not make it prohibitive to continue manufacturing or supporting the product.

I also wonder if, Chinese business ethics being what they are, the manufacturer deviated from Behmor's specs to save a few pennies.

Last week our 1 year old Brazen started shutting down "Done - Beep" while there is still  cup of water in the reservoir. A re-start empties the reservoir. Also temp fluctuates between 201 and 204 AND there is the occasional half-second 60Hz buzz.

BTW I bought my Brazen Feb 2013 (SN: A000184) and use distilled water since Day 1.

What do I do? Anyone else have these symptoms?

UPDATE: I actually  backed up a 1/4 of the way in this thread, read the relevant posts, and see this is a common problem. Sent Behmor Support an email - hope  something positive happens...

Do you have a sink sprayer in your kitchen sink?  If so, the first thing to try is holding the Brazen upside down over the sink and spray up into the reservoir, specifically into the drain hole.  Do this for about a good minute.  I've had two instances so far of "failure to drain" over a 6 month period, and this trick has fixed it perfectly both times.

Of course, if it really is the valve sticking then spraying won't fix it.  But if it's sediment or some particles clogging the screen then you should be fine.

Is there a fix?  Did not read through all the posts in this thread.

No easy fix for a Brazen other than flushing out the small reservoir opening/cleaning cycle. Behmor replaced my Brazen and it's working great. There's a new notice in the box regarding water quality. I use Glacier vending water from the grocery store; $0.30 a gallon in my area. The machines uses R/O, carbon filters, and UV treatment.

Behmor was quick to respond to my tech request and it looks like they are going to take care of me.  I only ever used RO water in my machine and kept it very clean.  It is very nice to see a company stand behind their product and try to make things better for their customers.  I buy another Brazen.

I'm using Crystal Springs SPRING water, purchased in (6) 1 gallon bottles, all in a box. It's about $.55 a gallon....for Spring water from GA. I refuse to purchase municipal water I can filter at home. LOL
What is unique, is measuring the CS water, it averages a TDS of 18! This is corroborated with both my KH/GH test kit and test strips. It measures about 7 on the ph scale.
I actually add 10% tap water for coffee brewing. My tap is 127TDS.

While I'm here, and back on topic, I've found the Brazen carafe seems to allow coffee deposits a wee bit more purchase to stick on.
I'm cleaning with boiling water and cafiza. A short scrub, and hot water rinse and it's spotless.
I cannot tell you how much cleaner the coffee is when that carafe is TOTALLY CLEAN. I'm guilty of a bit of laziness.

I had the BEST BraZen cup I've had in a couple of years right after a thorough (and relatively quick) cleaning. Idido Misty Valley rocked.
Apologies for going a bit off topic.

Apparently to the good folks at Behmor taking care of customers is not a lost art.  I contacted them last week and when I got home from work on Friday I had a new machine waiting for me in the mail.  The machine makes great coffee and the customer service is OUTSTANDING.  Thanks Behmor!!!
