True, but then I've seen that with many products on internet sites.  Almost any forum with users posting about gizmos is littered with unhappy folks looking for a place to express displeasure.  It's really difficult to accurately gauge failure rates.  It does seem fair to say the Brazen is unusually sensitive to water hardness and particulate accumulation, and likely requires more care and maintenance than auto drip machine users are used to.  The valve failure rate may be low, normal, or very high, we don't know.  Longevity at this point is also totally unknown.  What many of us do know is that it's in a class by itself for home drip brewers.  It's absolutely raised the bar by several notches, and I wouldn't be suprised if a company like Bonavita responds (pure speculation).  I for one could never be happy again with a one temp brewer.  The next couple of years will be interesting.

According to my super-secret, confidential sources, they are in the process as we speak.  I haven't heard anything about a release date, though.

Any idea of how long I should wait? I am looking for a new drip brewer. Might as well buy the best.  Seattle coffee gear has been out of stock forever, but it seems to be available on other sites.  Should I be waiting for an updated model?

I wouldn't wait for a 'next' Brazen model. if you go to idrinkcoffee.ca they will sell you a Brazen (out of Ontario) and ship it for free via courier. Bought my dad one in the spring from there and it as been perfectly fine (like mine).

Recently got my third Brazen.  Have been through all the problems, well documented on the many threads.  I have moth-balled it, didn't even open it.  Have written it off; will keep as a back up.  Went back to my Technivorm; it always works.  Seems like a great company that put out a product that was just not ready for prime time.  A shame, given the great feature set.

You say yours has been perfectly fine but you keep forgetting to mention that you are on your SECOND unit...

My second unit has been perfectly fine also because I no longer use it!

I'm still on my first. Been great, other than the dribbly carafe. Which brings me to the question: Has anyone found an alternative carafe that fits the Brazen?

It'd be nice if Joe Behm would come back into the thread & addressed the issues.

When I saw that swollen deformed seal (looked like a mini brain!) here, that could be solved by a change to a better/higher quality seal from whatever type of rubber (a guess) to a slicone (can't remember the types & durometers, so I'm looking now) seal..

This is for O - rings, but I'm sure similar:
Maybe this is only isolated to a few units?

What a few cents difference?, shouldn't cost anything on the bottom line cost of an updated Version 1.1 I'd think.

I have had my second unit since February and it continues, after many many pots and at least 50lbs of coffee, to be the finest brewer around. The fixes (maintenance really) recommended by Behmor have been spot on. Minor maintenance to deliver superb brews is well worth the cost. I can proudly continue to brag about this machine :)

New carafe is here. I got one in the mail a day or two ago. The pour spout has been completely redesigned- wider and with a but of a lip change. Haven't made coffee with it, but put some water in it and the "dribbles" down the side seem to be gone. Can't comment on any other aspect at this point.

Did you contact Behmor customer service to get this new carafe? Did they replace it under warranty?
