Well, mine "is" on a truck, somewhere, touring the province, but rest assured I am hoping for the Brazen to land by Thursday :) . Great news Craig.Should have some good thoughts to share within the next week. Will be a history changing moment when that first pot is brewed

Other than your reference to "blooming",your posting on this thread is bad form, but besides that, you have published incorrect and misleading information. Excuse me, but this brewer DOES NOT have "pre-wet" feature, just the usual brew stop.
This machine is the usual sub $100 brewer, and in NO way compares in features or consistent brew quality to the Brazen (or other quality brewers like the Technivorm, etc)
Why is this bad form? Most coffee brewer threads have posters presenting alternative brands with regularity.
Also, the spec's for the Delonghi DCM900 are impressive as it is based on the Kenwood design that meets the Gold standard set by the Norwegian Coffee Association which is similar to SCAA approval. To say the brew quality does not compare is misleading information.
I chew coffee beans with my teeth while gargling with 195 F water to enjoy coffee. What is this "coffee brewing" device you speak of?

Ah hah, a little bit of a break through. I brewed a pot today while hand holding the basket under the brew head to watch what happened. It's not the initial coffee bloom that's over flowing the filter and touching the top of the brew chamber. It's the main brew cycle once it starts! So even at 1:20 for the pre-soak it's not eating into the bloom enough to be done with it when the main cycle starts.
So I made a second pot with the pre-soak set way up at 2:30 and voila, no overflow, the bloom maybe barely touched the top (just a couple grains of coffee).
Yeah. That's what I was getting at in a post yesterday. When brewing with larger amounts of fresher coffee, it looks like you need to allow plenty of pre-soak pause time for every drip to have fallen out of the grounds before hitting it with the first shot of brew water.

I'd agree with you Eric, it's good to discuss other equipment but it is bad form to willfully mislead people as the writer did by infering the DCM has a Pre-Wet function when it doesn't and makes one wonder his possible motives.
Well, that's true in a fashion, but we have our Consumer Review Forum to help members make choices. But I'm sure, as this thread progresses ANOTHER 100 pages (!) every facet of this brewer will be explored and re-explored. Which is ALL to the good.
Now I'd welcome a move back to posts directly pointed towards usage of the BraZen. Apologies if I opened the wrong can of worms! :>D
