Or, you could just try it and see if you like it, regardless of what specs/pressure/magic makes it work... end result is most important. For me, taste is subjective a varies day-to-day, hour-to-hour. I have an early model Nespresso D120 I keep at my office/hangar where I have neither the infrastructure nor time to mess around with other coffee brewing methods. It is consistent and hits the spot when I am preflighting or checking the weather (or keeping passengers preoccupied with a cappa nicely foamed/heated up in the Aeroccino device and a little raw sugar sprinkled on top). I have recommended the system to friends and family as a no-muss, no-fuss solution to consistently enjoyable coffee that stands head-and-shoulders above the Keurig that is in current vogue (just my humble opinion on that).
At home, I play with a serious coffee toys, but you know what, sometimes I have to laugh at all the trouble and expense I go through to make my morning cappuccino complete with latte art on good days. For once you have tasted an exquisite cup of velvet, you are forever on that quest. Then again, it's so dang easy to pop in an Arpeggio capsule and enjoy a very respectable shot of Nespresso.
No, I'm saying you can adjust the ratio so that it would be more "correct" by the standards you often discuss; assuming what you've posted in the past is still "law" (7 g. of coffee for 25 ml, approximately), just under 18 ml. would become a Nespresso user's target if she were trying to serve you something that wouldn't offend your sense of propriety.
Don't get me wrong, I do like to quote the INEI definition of espresso, because it's a nice standard to get an impression what espresso should be like and to use as a starting point. My shots are from being brewed with 7 or 14 g of coffee, they are more in the 9 or 18 g range. There is no law in espresso, only guide lines.
What counts in the end is that you enjoy what's in your cup. And I happen to dislike Nespresso more or less.
