Come to think of it, "fresh" was probably the wrong term to use, especially on this forum. That term is better left for describing roasted coffee beans! Ha ha, my bad! Take care!

I did not realize that the cycle could be cancelled that way. What that means is that we could manually time our extraction by using the 2 or 3 minute cycle, and stop after whatever time we want. Could be interesting.

Right, never thought about it that way. So much experimenting to do.

BTW,  did a couple more press-out temperature measurements today and got 189°F both times with a preheated brewing chamber. Not bad after about almost a minute and a half of brewing and the injection of air. Take care!

With the recent wave of hot weather coinciding with the delivery of my latest Tonx subscription coffee, I decided to work-up a reliable and easy Trifecta MB iced coffee recipe. Tonx suggested that East African coffees make particularly good and interesting cold coffee, and that this Ethiopian, Adulina Selection Yirgacheffe that I just received, would be an excellent candidate. I started out with 227g (8 oz) water and pretty close to my usual amount of coffee for a 12 oz cup (25.8g). I then placed about 200g of ice cubes or 7 oz. (actually 12 of my refrigerator's automatic ice maker's cubes) into a Bodum 15 oz double-walled glass mug. The Trifecta MB settings were A/:45 and I brewed directly over the ice. After the temperature of the coffee seemed to stabilize, I scooped out the remaining ice and quickly weighed it. The remaining ice weighed about 80g, or close to 3 oz. Volume of coffee in the mug was about 12 oz. Placed the ice back into the mug and enjoyed an excellent Trifecta MB iced coffee. Take care!

It's absolutely worth a try! Jim's recipe is pretty close to what I've been using for iced Trifecta coffee. These C&B 16-oz. rings glasses are a perfect fit under the spout, btw.

OK, so I've had my Trifecta about a week, and am tickled with the quality of a cup I can get from it.   I started home roasting a few months back, and can really enjoy the variety of beans I'm roasting.   Flavors in the Trifecta are amazing!

Now, I almost sent it back, when I opened it.   i was (and still am) a little shocked at the inferior quality of the knobs on the device.   They don't sit flush against the machine, and they are covered with machine marks and scratches.

Anyone else find this on their machine?   Anyone come up with a more esthetically pleasing solution (i.e. making knobs)?

Patty,

Upon closer inspection of the knobs on my Trifecta, I notice that they are both slightly skewed to the left, but still positioned very close to the front panel. Most likely the position of the switches themselves, are not perfectly perpendicular to the front of the brewer. There is a small allen head set screw on each knob that can be loosened and the knob positioned in or adjusted slightly. Regarding the scratches… not the most careful machining on their part. If I look closely at mine, I see what you are talking about. I'm sure the knobs can be removed and replaced with some cool, machined aluminum knobs. But don't get me started on mods for this baby quite yet. Take care!

Surprising to hear about a bunn at this price.  So long as they function as intended & it makes good coffee, is the main thing, but at least that detail won't be a surprise now.

Where is bunn making these, or having them made btw? Someone mind looking at the "made in..." printing on theirs?

Made in USA, as soon as when you order it.
