In a strange, caffeine-fueled musing this weekend, a crazy thought occurred to me. I'm curious, has anybody done a "hybrid brew" cocktail? In other words, brew half-servings of two different methods, and then mix them together to drink? I'd be curious what would result, say, from combining a Chemex and Aeropress or Clever of the same brew, so you get the florals that the Chemex is good at pulling along with the fruity juiciness the Aero tends to accentuate.

It's certainly more labor intensive, but I'd be intrigued to see how it comes out. I just haven't had a chance to try yet, but was curious if anybody else has done this sort of thing.

It is fairly common to add espresso to brewed coffee,  this is often called something like "a shot in the dark"

Questions almost identical to yours have led to the development of new brewers. According to "The Espro Press Story" their brewer was developed after years of trying to combine the best of a French press and a vacuum brewer.

I was wondering. French press is more convenient to make but does not filter diterpenes  from the coffee.

So, does the diterpenes  is filtered if i do a"french press" the coffee then pour the coffee into a paper filter. Anybody tried this b4?

Andy, welcome to the CG Forums.
Funny thing, my wife rises at 5:30 to help get my girls to school (I sleep in, like you I'm in music! LOL)
Anyhow, she find leftover vestiges of several of my daily coffee efforts the next morning (if i forget to clean up, something I've been working on for 35 years) and combine them, and NUKE IT!.
Thus, 2oz of Chemex, maybe a few oz of a Hario, and whatever is left over from our Bunn Brewer that day.
Ugh. But to her, easier than making a pot bleary eyed.

Vern, I've heard what you've described regarding the Espro Press.
Maybe that might be a thing for Andy?

Though I'm not sure what "diterpenes" is, I believe I get your question.
Yes, I believe some folks do paper filter their Presspot, but the "Clever Dripper" device does that for you.
Coffee stays put in the device, steeping with a paper filter) then after 3 minutes or so, when placed on a cup, the coffee is released into the cup. Though not "pressed out" it's basically immersion coffee, but filtered, as you suggested.
These devices are available at many vendors here in the statures, and I'm sure available across Asia and Europe.
Andy, sorry for the OT.
