You can generally pick up citric acid in bulk, and save on shipping, at your local homebrew shop. Just be careful you don't walk out the door with your arms loaded, lots of tempting stuff in there.

Thanks germantownrob for the water info link...
An update: I have brewed another 3 pots since my last post and now I am getting about a quarter inch of water left after the brew cycle is over. Apparently my cleaning helped greatly, but not completely. Sent a tek request to Behmor on Saturday, so we will see what's next. I do have faith in Joe and the way problems are handled.
The Brazen only holds 1.9 litres so the 2.2 kg should do about 43 cleanings. Perhaps a staged manual release method would allow stretching the soak out over a period of time to get longer contact with the screen if needed.

Love the brewer, not crazy about the carafe. Has anyone experimented with alternative carafes? I have a hard time using the supplied carafe without lots of spilling. The pour is not easy. Plus, it doesn't seem that great on heat retention. Any suggestions welcome.

I always find that putting a bit of hot water in the carafe before the brew to heat it up helps keep the temperature of the brewed coffee quite nice for the length of time I need

I do the same with mine. The hot water first helps temper and pre-warm the cooler metal.
As far as the dripping: I have found that I first tilt the carafe in a full pour position and then push the release. This helps a lot but I still get dribbles at times.
Also when I remove my filter assembly about an ounce or more of water runs out of the spray area above and gets all over the base. So now when I remove the filter basket I throw a towel down to catch the water.
Additionally, if your not careful to pull the carafe straight out it will catch the filter basket and dump hot grounds on you hand and counter. My wife has done this a few times and burned her hand. This is a serious safety issue. Definitely hold the filter basket when removing carafe and then get rid of the hot grounds right away.

I used the automatic brew for Christmas morning, go ahead recoil in horror and then roar with laughter. I was up until 3am or so baking and getting the morning ready for the kids (2 & 5) who would be down the stairs by 6:30am so I ground my 3 day old roast, filled the reservoir, filled the basket, set the brew time for 6am, and was able to walk down the stairs with the kids and pour a cup of Joe before they even had one present open.
I was so giddy over not having to be impatient about the brew cycle and with 15 adults and 8 kids due to arrive around noon I thought I could use this timer to my advantage. At 11:30 I brewed a pot and poured into a thermos, set up with a new brew on the timer to start in 30min, the thermos never ran dry for the next 8 hours, the bourbon did though.

What temp shows on the screen when you calibrate? I'm at 250 ft altitude, and as I recall my calibration about 6 weeks ago showed 210. Did it again today and it stopped at 208. Just wondering if that's normal. Thanks.
