yeah a year later now the 586 has been working out great for me, with vac pot & auto drip (only). Only nitpicks, static cling only when it's cold, otherwise none, & the timer knob occasionally falls off if you're not careful. Couldn't ask for a more consistent grind though.
I WOULD have to tempt fate by updating with all is well- suddenly after one second into grinding, the pitch of its tone changed, & no longer grinding the same despite not having touched the setting.

Well after a lot of back & forth with baratza customer service the past couple of weeks, sending them pictures, troubleshooting each part with their guide etc. they sent me what was supposed to have been a refurbished 586 to replace mine with. Instead i got a different model, with the old style burrs before they were improved. It is definitely a refurb though, exterior & interior plastic pretty scratched up.
HOpefully maybe they meant to say just temporarily replace mine with it, while they fix mine, because even this replacement grinds better than how mine's working now I'm not replacing mine with an older model that's in much worse condition.
