I've been looking around online for a special on this brewer and can not find one. Does anyone know where I can find one for less than $99.99 (incl. shipping)? Thanks much... I'll keep watching this thread. Bill

Bed Bath and Beyond sales them for $99.99 and I think you get a 10-20% off coupon for signing up to their mailing list. Also they send out mail coupons in my area for 10-20% off pretty often. I have heard the stores that don't carry them will order one for you and waive the shipping cost.

Thanks Robert... I'll check it out. I'm hoping to find some place that has a sale on them. We don't have Bed Bath and Beyond around here, but I'll check for a website.

Posted Wed Nov 16, 2011, 1:55pm Subject: Bunn Phase Brew vs. Newco OCS-12
Greetings! I grew weary of shuttling our Newco OCS-12 between houses, so decided to purchase another coffee maker. After looking at a lot of posts here, plus the fact that my first OCS-12 went belly up in less than 2 years, I decided to try the Phase Brew (Bed Bath and Beyond, $79 with their 20% coupon for the non-thermal unit).
What we found is that while the coffee is definitely hotter than the OCS-12, it is not nearly as flavorful (tastes thin and weak with the same amount of grounds). I called Bunn and they sent me the black nozzle, so I replaced the standard green nozzle - and while it might have improved the strength marginally, it's still no match for the OCS-12, not even close.
A lot of the reviews I read here seemed to prefer the Phase Brew over the OCS. I can tell that the coffee is hotter, so as far as I know the only other variable is the distribution and time of the hot water through the grounds. The Phase Brew is definitely slower (5 or 6 minutes to heat the water and then maybe another 4 to run it through the grounds), but I don't know if there are any other nozzle fixes, etc. to make the coffee stronger other than just to pile on the grounds (and run the risk of overflow).
Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
p.s. I find it very odd that in a coffee maker that takes as long as the Phase Brew to complete, that there isn't a beep when it's done. I don't want it to sit on the hot plate so end up having to babysit and guess when the 10 minutes are up (which usually requires multiple fly byes). The OCS-12 doesn't have anything other than an on-off button (no timer, etc.) but like almost all coffee makers - it gives you a beep when it's done!

I know you were asking a month ago, but Community Coffee is offering their bundle on the Bunn HG for $99.00 with free shipping. If you use the promo code FIRSTCUP you get 20% off bringing it down to $79.20 shipped. You can also join their Coffee Club to get another 10% off bringing the final cost down to $71.28. I like to add Chickory to my coffee fairly often so I set up recurring club order for a couple $2.50 bags of ground Chickory every 180 days.
My wife plans to sign me up for the first season of Coffee Gadget Hoarders.

So after reading this entire thread, I just pulled the trigger on the HT model (thermal carafe). It's replacing my trusty, but 5-year-old Capresso MT500. I've enjoyed that machine very much, loved the carafe, and always got very hot coffee with it. Looks like the Bunn thermal model will do much the same thing for half the cost.
Thanks to everyone here for great comments and insights.
