I read erics review on the krup conical burr grinder & Im not sure he liked it but I  also read the reviews on the grinder on Amazon which where only 3 stars. as far as a kettle, are you speaking of an electric Kettle? Im looking at the Clerk, Bodum & Yama siphon too.

Two more entry level grinders that I was also looking at where the Bodum Bistro & capresso infinity that  could be compared to the Krups professional burr grinder. Its just too many choices for a newbie

Get the Bonavita - Glass or Steel carafe - either one should give great results. My glass carafe version is a terrific brewer and it retails for around what that Bunn cost.

I'll second that. I have a Technivorm as well, but if this maker had been available here 2 years ago I would have saved my money on the TV. You can get it discounted a little and with free shipping from Comfort House.

As for grinders, I'm happy with my Capresso Infinity, but will buy a Bartza if this on ever breaks. Both grind excellent coffee.

Babbie's Rule* of Fifteens:
-- Green (unroasted) coffee beans should be roasted within 15 months, or they go stale.
-- Roasted coffee beans should be ground within 15 days, or they go stale.
-- Ground coffee should be used within 15 minutes, or it goes stale.

Where should I order roasted coffee beans online & how should they be kept? What companies sell freshly roasted coffee beans or  whom is the most popular supplier on the forum for coffee?

You are on the West Coast, so order from Sweet Marias or Stumptown to start off.

Intelligentsia and LaMill would also work.

Counter Culture and Barismo are good.

I used to order from Coffee Emergency and have always been pleased with their products...they changed over to: http://www.cultivacoffee.com/

Sometimes Whole Foods sells Intelligentsia....you should check...if so, they will have roast dates on the bags.

klatchroasting.com is also west coast, with three coffee houses in the ontario/pomona/rancho cucamonga area as well as their roasting facility/training center (actually, the roasting facility/training center is in Upland and one of the coffee houses is in San Dimas).  I think their WBC espresso blend ROCKS...and to me, blows away just about everything else I've tried!

Hey!
I've been doing side by side tests with the Technivorm and the Bonavita. I love the Technivorm for so many reasons, the coffee quality being the main one, but let's not forget forget the cool-as-hell Rimowa-esque tower design. However, at half the price of the Technivorm, and if budget is a concern, I'd go for the Bonavita.

Also, on the grinder front, Maestro production has stopped in anticipation of an updated grinder at the same price point, the Encore, due at the end of March. This will have a few updates, the main one being an improved burr set.
