The Coffee Borer Beetle (CBB) is pretty much wrecking havoc in ANY coffee worldwide. The Kona area in Hawai'i was one of the last areas unaffected till 2010. So your Kopi Luvak will certainly have it as well, sorry! Nepal coffee is as far as I know still without CBB. Damage on our farm is now being kept btw 1-3%, comparable to what well run Colombian farms can achieve. When worried about insect particles left in coffee however, please look up what is permitted under FDA standards in simple orange juice or cereal. You might realize that insects are a big part of your diet already...and coffee should be he least of your worries. Search for FDA "Food Defect Action Levels". Better done AFTER dinner or lunch.

Interesting! Those borers get around, don't they! :) Yes, I was aware of the "insect fragments" permitted in many foods. Thankfully, without a microscope, we can't see them!

I completely shared the skepticism everyone expressed below. BUT I just happened to get a taste of this coffee at my cousin's house in Virginia 2 weeks ago and was blown away. I've honestly been craving it since, which is not something that has happened to me in a long time. I broke down and bought a $19 Kona from Trader Joe's today (13 oz) which is not bad, but nothing compared to the Whole Foods blend... We made it in a chemex - 7 tbsp of beans (ground medium) for 27 oz of water. This particular coffee was one of the most complex and satisfying cups of coffee I've had ever. It had a natural sweetness that reminded me of my cream and sugar days. Have you ever had a coffee that tasted like that?? Without adding anything?? I drink my coffee black only now, but this was dessert without adding anything to it... $26 for 8oz does sound insane, but this is a special coffee. If I made ice cream, I would try making it with this and cut the sugar... Highly recommend trying this. And don't forget WF policy - if you don't like it, they take it back :)

$52 a pound is way too much. when you can roast your own for about $15 a pound. I have seen JBM for less than that. Anyways Kona is nice and I always have greens on hand. Its getting time to order more...

Hula Daddy is great. Rusty's ka'u was excellent. You may want to try Maui Grown Coffee. They have some interesting varietals.
