I don't necessarily have a problem with a hand grinder, although I found none with decent reviews at various sites so I ruled them out. If you have one you could recommend, I'd certainly entertain the idea.
Else it looks like trying to sort out a refurb Baratza or get the weighted, SS Capresso Infinity.
Grinding for drip is something most vintage hand grinders can knock out with no problem - a little patience on eBay can net something suitable in the $20 - $30 range - if you are in a hurry $50 will get a nice condition mill almost instantly. I find longer handle mills are easier to grind with than shorter handle mills.
For drip I like the open hopper bottom adjustment mills since many sit around as decoration without seeing a lot of use but sell for less than closed top mills in similar condition. Mills with no label will sell for even less. I have less than $20 including shipping in the Armin Trosser in my photo (I.D. verified by "A.T." on the outer burr housing) that got a paint job somewhere in time. This longer handled model still has many years of service left.

I chew coffee beans with my teeth while gargling with 195 F water to enjoy coffee. What is this "coffee brewing" device you speak of?
I avoid the newer "buy it now" ones with the cog wheel adjustment similar to the Hario Skerton - these usually have cast iron burrs instead of forged steel burrs. Cast iron burrs take forever to grind the beans and do not do a very good job in the process.
If you want a branded mill then KyM, Armin Trosser, Pe De Dienes, Zassenhaus, B.C. and De Ve are good makes to start searching for - look out for rust and warped or cracked wood - look at the pictures very carefully - remember, even the best made mill will suffer considerably from 50 years of rough handling so use those brand names only as a starting point. I will admit I am particularly fond of the Dienes brand mills since they used thick, quality wood and excellent burrs.
