I've had the Bodum for about a year and like it very much for the most part. I only grind coarse for French press so I can't speak to its espresso grind. Also, I've never used any other burr grinders, so my experience is limited. To grind enough coffee for a large French press I always need to turn the grinder on again after its 20 second turn off. But then only for about five seconds. I just don't think this is going to harm it. If so, I'd hit Bodum up for its warranty. The overall construction feels somewhat cheap, which I guess it is. The grind setting dial sometimes gets reset by the machine's vibrations. But for the money, I think the Bodum is a solid buy.
