What in your view are  the  2 best drip coffee makers which measure between  195- 205 and make a wonderfull cup of coffee for under  $100,00.
I will be choosing a new machine in the next cuople weeks.

One would definitely be the Krups Moka Brew.  I can't believe how good the coffee is I'm drinking every morning.

You can get them for about $99 shipped, and the water temp is right in the range you listed.

While not technically a traditional drip machine, the coffee it produces is better than drip.

Read the review here, and the amazon.com reviews for other folks' opinions besides just mine.

  1. Krups Moka Brew
  2. KitchenAid Classic Plus (if you can still find one on clearance)

I've also recently become a "pour-over" filtercone convert. Makes the best drip coffee I've ever had. And you'll have over $90 change, if $99 is your budget ("under $100"). I was surprised at how easy, and hassle-free, they are to use.

The one I got is from Sweet Marias, and has the added benefit that it's designed to sit on top of a thermal caraffe. And delicious, hot coffee is the end-result.

I also have the Moka Brew, and really like it... For some kinds of coffee. I've had some cups from it that were in "amazing" category, then others that were just OK. Depends on the kind of bean, and type of roast.

I had a KitchenAid Ultra before that did quite well, though took up the space that my Moka Brew now occupies. My brother (another Geek) has it now, and took a water-temp measurement of approx. 197 degrees. Darn good. And he loves it.

That's the good news; the bad news is that KitchenAid has stopped making them. I did see one at a local outlet store called Tuesday Morning. Didn't check the price, but I have to think it was aggresively discounted.

You may want to do a Froogle search to see if anyone still has them.

Good luck!

Bob

I used my Kitchenaid Ultra 4-cup for about a year until I busted it a few months ago during very rigorous (and idiotic) temperature testing. I immediately purchased another one, brand new in box, off of ebay for 44 dollars. In my own testing, the temperature was always >193 degrees, and gets to over 200 degrees.

There are always one or two brand new ones on EBAY for sale/auction.

I've only heard good things about Krups Moka mentioned above. I harbor a prejudice against Krups.

If I were you, I'd pay the extra money for a $200 Technivorm. This is the "mazzer mini" of coffeemakers, in the sense that there is consensus in the coffegeek community that it makes outstanding coffee.

I appreciate all the interesting comments and feedback and even though I would like to have a Technivorm I don't think it fits into my budget just yet.
So I may be going with the Mocha Brew. If I do decide upon the Krups. Who would be a good and reasonabe  reseller to give my buisness to. I did
see this product at a site for $94.99, but after reading all the negative reviews from this site,  I decided that dependability and service are the more important way to go.  Any and all feedback would be appreciated .  Thanks

I believe that Amazon will price match.

And they'll cover shipping!

A link to their site: click here

There's a section down the page a bit that asks if you found it for less... follow that link and see what they'll do for you.

Years ago I became a manual pour over guy.  So simple.  So wonderfully good.  So easy to clean.  Less Clutter.  Cheap.  No worries about water temp.  I will never buy a coffee maker again.  I've given three of them away.
