How do I clean the bottom carafe of my yama 8-cup brewer? Simply rinsing is not enough, and I obviously cannot stick my hand in to clean it with a washcloth, so what to do?
I tried using a baby bottle brush, but I think I may have scratched a good portion of the glass with the stiff bristles, for I now notice that there is a line (at the 5 cup mark) above which the water beads a lot. I dont remember if this was the case before I cleaned with the bottle brush, but I do not think it was. Can anybody tell me if their carafes bead up in the same manner as mine, and how they clean them.

cafiza or any other espresso cleaner works wonder for any part of the brewer (glass, cloth filter, etc). Just make sure you rinse them well before using (prob do a blank brew...).

I received my Yama 5 cup yesterday and washed it with warm/soapy water. We have a sponge on an angled handle that worked well for the carafe. The coffee was off the chain too!! <That means really, really good for you non-urban types (-:>

Seriously though, one thing I noticed about the Yama is that the coffee seemed to be a lot hotter than coffee out of my press or my Moka brew. The flavors of the coffee were very pronounced with the vac pot.
