I'm looking for suggestions for a travel grinder to take along with me for a road trip from Miami FL to White Sands NM.

Hi Mark,

Welcome to the forum.

I have the Traveler Grinder illustrated in this string: "New burr grinder for $17 !"

It is a good grinder but I have found large beans to be problematic.  I recomend taking some peaberries when you travel with it.

I have one of those travel grinders. It does a great job on peppercorns though. I highly recommend the JavaGrinder. Do a google on it, you can find it all over the place for less than $20. It's fairly airtight too, so you can conceivably store your beans in it. It holds roughly 18 tablespoons of beans. The handle turns over to store flat agains the body. It's great for use with a french press because it will sit right on top and you can grind directly into the press pot. It's made out of Lexan, so very rugged. I got mine at REI, an outdoor/mountaineering shop.
