Still, I'll cut Reg some slack...he is truly good at what he does, and seems like a nice guy to boot.
Time to fire up my Yama vac. Whoops, too late. I'd be up all night.
LOL. I just switched to vegetarian about 1 1/2 month ago, mostly for health reasons (I don't care about the animal, since my not eating it will just mean some Chinese that is making a bit more will!).

Too late for me. Just got my BTX-B tonight, and I HAD to try it even though I am sure to not fall asleep until 12-2am tonight. I was brought up not to waste "food". Ah, the sacrifice a coffeegeek must make sometime, 50oz of coffee in the system. Wheee! watch me bounce of the wall for the next 5 hours!!!! (At least it gives me a chance to catch up on my studies...)
I got to say, this machine brews a nice cup of coffee. I don't know if it's because I grounded the coffee too fine, but the 5 sprayhead made a good coffee for me. I still sent BUNN an e-mail requesting the 3 hole sprayhead (as all coffeegeek should just to try the difference 3 hole can make!), but even then I think I'll still be happy. One thing I found interesting is the thickness of the filters, you can actually see through then in certain spots! The coffee grounds resting place in the filter was also interesting since the grounds were up the wall and looked evenly spread throughout the filter wet space. I can see why people would be worried about overflow though.....
It's funny, I had ~5 packages I was waiting for this week and I got three of them all in one day... freaky. I did get my camera lenses earlier then expected at least.

I thought you'd update us on the other thread here when you placed your order, but no matter. Are you using your Mini to grind for it? How much coffee did you use for the 50 oz? The minimum suggested starting point is 2 oz or 57 grams. How long was your brew time?
It will vary depending on water hardness condition, soft water will bloom excessively & brew faster & possibly necessitating the slower Tim Horton 3 hole restrictor sprayhead., harder water will brew more slowly.

I basically filled the hopper of the Zassenhaus and used all of it.... it was my usual method with the Bodum Kona so it is easy for me to compare the result that way. The brew was too fast for my taste, but if did not have a lot of bitterness to it, so that is a plus. I'll post something on the other link.
Well you have to use the minimum quantity/weight stated, or you'll have a brew that's even faster than the Bunn 3 minute standard & you won't have the proper extraction/concentration rate/percentage, producing weal coffee. Grinding finer to compensate to make it flow slower will result in paper filter & basket overflow.

OK, I used 50 and 55 grams of coffee but the first batch was still the best result I have had so far, which would be around 48 grams of coffee ground a bit coarser. My brewing time is 2:58 -3:00 minutes. It seems that the coffee is actually worst if the grounds are too fine and I am better off making smaller batches of coffee, say 40-45 oz vs 50 oz using same amount of coffee if I want more flavor.
Still happy with the purchase, but I have yet to get feed back from Bunn (sent e-mail Wednesday May 7)..... don't know if they will send the part and not reply the e-mail or just ignore it.... will wait a week or so, then I'll try calling directly.

When I do the basket overflows. The water enters the grind basket too fast and the fine grinds don't let the water pass fast enough. Grind coarser so that the water does pass fast enough and the coffee is weak tasting. I've since plugged all the holes and drilled 3 holes with a 1/16-inch drill bit. Now I can grind as fine or coarse as I want and use much coffee as I want and don't even come close to overflowing and I have a good distribution again.
