The only machine which comes close to your price limit that I know about is the Bodium Antigua in the plastic.
Those other things like the Braun KMM30 are what I call pseudo - burrs and they are hardly better than whirly-blades and they usually make a huge static mess.
The cheapies will grind the entire range from Turkish to the coarsest grind you could want. The catch is that they do them all at the same time and the grind setting only sets the upper size limit. Avoid them like the plague.
Hi. I would appreciate any recommendationa for cheap (under $50) but reliable burr grinders in Vancouver, Canada area. Need 4 of them.

ok. sigh. my siblings here in the philippines prefer to stick with drip coffees but i managed to convince them that the taste is far better with the use of these burr grinders (over the bladed ones) as soon as they tried the drip I made using the virtuoso-baratza i have. Thanks for your thoughts.

Not sure what is available in your area, but the usual advice in that price range is to consider a manual grinder. There really are no "cheap" burr grinders to recommend. The Solis / Baratzas and some comparable grinders really are about the threshold for a truly functional electric grinder.
