Just got a 4-8 cup Cory through Ebay. In box and seems unused. The gasket is in perfect condition as is the whole pot. It's gorgeous and I'm delighted. However,my curiosity is aroused It seems to be a wide gasket model (twice the width of my Yama) The model # is DKG-S. If it is a widemouth, can any historian out there tell me the reason for a wide gasket, the pros and cons,as well as the approximate mfg. date?

Now that I think about it,it seems to me that the widemouth might be for easier cleaning of the caraffe. My other questions stand,if anyonne can answer them.
Do you by any chance know the answers to my questions? I realize, they're pretty esoteric.
Sorry Barry, I don't. I haven't Googled the answers, but I've read on alt.coffee that Alties have sent Brian Harris an email & he will respond back to you with any answers to vac pot questions! I think I've read that Cory went out of business in the early 60's. I believe they were produced from the 40's - early 60's, that's not much help. Silex's were from I believe the early 20's!

Actually Craig, that does help a good deal. I didn't know those dates. For me at least,it's a thrill to reach into the past that way. Thanks for your kind response. All the best, Barry
