Hi All.. This is my first post here on the coffee geek and wanted to share my roasting setup that I've created for my grill. It's really easy to set up using a behmor 1600 basket, requires no fabrication and can be put together with stuff you probably have in the garage. I've roasted about 20lbs of coffee so far with it and seams to do a great job! If interested you can read more about it in my instructables page.. http://www.instructables.com/id/BBQ-Coffee-Roasting/ and a quick video of it in operation here.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y7iisqXsZRA Please let me know if you have any questions or any comments!
Thanks Ian! At some point I'd like to design / build a cool roaster but for now in the learning stage, I was just going for easy :) You're right on opening the lid however. I can hear the cracks through it but I've noticed that if I leave it down for the duration of the roast, I get a slightly smoked flavor in the coffee. I don't think our grill has very good ventilation. Putting a thermocouple thermometer is on the list!
