12 oz in a SC/TO hits 1st crack in 9 minutes from a cold start with 475 degrees above the beans and then rolls right into 2nd crack without taking a break. i hear FC sounds along with SC sounds at the same time. the beans burn with no more sounds if i keep going. what am i doing wrong?

Turn down the heat when 1C gets rolling and let 1C stretch out. What the actual bean temperature is, you can only guess, obviously somewhat less.
You'll have to do some roasting trials to get more familiar how to "surf" the temperatures because most TO's have a large gap between heat on and heat off.
OH, also check your bean load. If you are using 1/2#, the temp adjust will be different than with 1#.
Yeah,475F 'above the beans' is too hot. Try a pre-heat the keep time to first crack at 9 minutes or less, and lower the finish ET from 475F to 450-460F. You should be able to run the start of first crack until finish at 3-4 minutes without ever entering second crack.
