First off, I dragged out my hearthware roaster , ya from the 90's and got some 100% Estate Hawaiian; Red Maui Kaanpali to roast, tired of same ol coffee, and yes i have a roaster in town and can get great price but he over roasts to my liking. But after 2 1/2 hours of 1/3 cup roasts I think i want to get something that holds more beans. Question is how close to 15 amp s does it comsume. I usually put my roaster on the grill side of the BBQ , and roast out doors im not sure if anything other the the pool uses the circuit, but I can always shut that off.
Can I put it outside in the fall/ winter, in NH without any problems? Also can i turn it on without beans to see if I pop a breaker or are beans needed?
Any other suggestions, hints will help.. I read the boards today to catch up on stuff. \Thanks

Its best to roast later at night or early when folks ACs are not running.. If you have a Multi-Meter set it to AC volts and check your outlet with your roaster off and on. Just use the other plug outlet in socket. If your below 116v while in use, its on the low side. Make sure you don't use an extension cord..

Hi, Paul. I've had a Behmor for 2 1/2 years now. I'm one of the few that roast a full pound at one roasting. I live in Arizona and I do roast outside every time. Wife won't let me roast in the house. I live at 7000 feet and roast quite often in freezing temperatures during the winter (my first year here in 1986 we received 156 inches of snow).
I think my Behmor does fine in the cold. You can turn it on without beans in it without any problem. In fact, they suggest you do a dry burn every five roasts. (A complete roasting cycle without beans). Can't help you on the amperage as I don't check mine. My plug in is right on the out side of wife's laundry room.Don't know if the circuits are connected but haven't had any problems (newer house, though).
Copied below: "The two quartz tube/nichrome wire heaters are 525 watts each. The afterburner is 500 watts going by memory. The times that the afterburner is on also is 525+525+500 watts = 1,550 watts.
It depends on your supply line voltage, & in the summertime with all the draw down on the local power grid of neighbourhood A/C running (ours off when I measured) was 116 volts. Currently I have 118 volts.
I= P divided by E so 1st senario voltage, the max current would be 13.36 amps, 2nd voltage the max current would be 13.14 amperes. This/my house was built in 1956 & has standard 15 amp branch circuits & my Behmor works just fine. I haven't looked or measured the 2 WIRE ONLY cable wires but I'm sure it's only 14 gauge wire max & only 100 amp service.
I did do some measurements a few months ago with my DVM & there's a noticable voltage drop when the elements turn on, & also the afterburner. My Behmor is roasting fine within its design parameters & my standard roast is 12 oz/340 grams."

Thanks for all the replies, I have good power and the UPS backup shows 119 v, I dont think anything esle is on the circuit I would use, when and if I get a Behmor I will find out. The hearthware is proving indestructible, so who knows. Afterr 11 consecutive roasts, i was more tired that it was :) . Im keeping an eye out for beans and roaster, will see what works out. Still have 8.5 lbs of hawaiin to roast so will roasting every week for sure.
