My heat gun has a 2-speed fan switch as well as variable heat (140°-1100° °F).  Will note to lower the heat temp towards the end of the roast.

Lookin good somegeek, I'm using a Breville big loaf twin paddle bm with a Makita hg with  3 speed fan and variable temp for my Corretto, with this gun I can have it in the one position and adjust fan speed and temperature as required, I tried 1.2kg roasts but could not control them so I've gone down to 600g and 900g batches and getting good even roasts with good control over them. For a small outlay its a great way to roast a decent quantity of beans.
We gotta thank Coffeesnob "Corretto" for thinking up this method!!

You'll see in my very first post in this thread that I mentioned Corretto.  My understanding is that her method wasn't so much just using a bread machine, but rather a way of holding the heat gun in a fixed position while roasting.  Maybe you can shed some more light on that for me?  Curious as to the fixture that holds your heat gun.

Here is a YouTube video with someone roasting in what I would refer to as the Corretto method:  The man even has the down under accent - smile:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tycka09F1GE

This is the first of two videos of roasting with a bread machine and heat gun, but not sure this is true Corretto:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YrKt-fxGi4A

Interested in your opinion on my definition of Corretto.  Thanks for filling in the blanks some.

I was pondering how my heat gun holder will look  and realized it will be pretty short.  I didn't consider that I won't have to adjust it's height much since I have variable speed and heat settings. :)

This guy is using what looks like a guitar stand to me.  At 17 plus minutes into his roast his beans are only just over 200F.  I think that roast went well over 20 minutes to complete and that is longer than I like to see a batch done.  If he would have positioned the gun closer to the beans he could have cut the time down substaintially.

Look at how close this gun is to the beans and the time frame of the roast:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YrKt-fxGi4A&feature=related  I just put my heat gun in the sight glass opening like in this video instead of a stand and then toward the end of the roast I hand hold it.

Belinda from CS was working on her Corretto BM/HG concept in early/mid '06 at the same time that I went the BM/TO concept route(Peter Z. on SM older list had also been playing with the concept  BM/TO. I had decided to try the turbo oven top over the heat gun because of the larger heating area of the TO also realizing it was going to be a more difficult build. At that time the SC/UFO/TO were quite the rage but I was looking to improve what I considered the weak point that was the bean agitation. See my blog site below and scroll down to my first posts to see early pics of my BM/TO which became my DreamRoast roaster after many mods.

Good stuff, greeneye - thanks!

Found a colander for my bean cooling setup today at Goodwill - don't think I could have a more perfect fit.  Just needed a few quick whacks and the spot weld mounted handles came off clean.

Last thing I have to do is to finish the heat gun holder / lid.

Finished up the lid/heat gun holder.  This should shorten my roast times and help with temp regulation.  It's easy enough to tip the gun/lid to view the beans under the lid.  I may cut a 1/2" or so edge off the lid if needed later on for viewing.

The heat gun's position balances it nicely across the lid.

All done with this for now I think.
