Hi,

been searching for a while about doing my own roasted coffee..
decided to go for the Popcorn Poppery, bought one on ebay but after 10 days I got no poppery and no answer from the seller.. :(
so after watching some Utube videos and since already have the green beans tho about give it a try with what I have in the kitchen.

stove - check
cooking pan - check
wooden spoon - check
pasta drainer - check

here is what I got

to early to say how good or bad it is, but tomorrow morning I'll give them a try.. ;)

That looks a bit too dark, but not a bad effort.  How much did you roast, and how long did the roast take?  Could you hear the 1st and 2nd cracks?

I did two batches,
first one (in the pictures) is organic Colombian, about 10 minutes.
the second was Ethiopian and took a little longer but with lower fire, about 14 minutes.

I see how I like them after tomorrow, still have some green beans from both to keep practicing.. ;)

ohh,
yes, clearly I hear both cracks, first louder than the second.

my two cents: if you remotely liked the stove top roast...you will LOVE roasting in a more consistent manner.  If you can borrow a heat gun you'll already be 2 steps closer to a more evenly roasted coffee, with less burning of the beans.

be careful though...as roasting beans is almost as addictive as caffine !

Bravo, Juanjo!  Excellent pictures and results!

It's tommorow now (where I am), so how does it taste?  We're all curious if you find it good enough to be officially converted to home roasting!

Thanks,

I did 4 batches..

and surprisingly the first one (darker pictured) is the best.

the second (Ethiopian) have a test that I'm not quit happy with..
then 3rd, organic Colombian, did it lighter (after all the comments about my first being to dark) and it just chock the machine (Gaggia Classic) with same grinder set up I can pull a 30second shot with the first Colombian and Ethiopian, but this lighter Colombian isn't going though the machine.. try few times tamping a little less and grinding a bit coaster.. and nothing..

I did the 4th batch today (O.C.) so I'll know tomorrow..

I'll keep doing small batches till I get it right..

but for what I see the dark works well.. ;)

thanks again for the comments..
