Espresso: Gaggia Carezza Grinder: Rocky DL Roaster: I Roast 2

I've done 3 roasts with my I Roast and the last 2 both had slow ramp ups. 320/5m, 330/3m, 375/3m, 400/2m, 425/2m. The last 2 roast have both gone into the cool off cycle just after the start of the 4th stage with the beans still medium brown. The LCD is show the "POT" symbol but the pot is fully latched. My 1st roast had a faster ramp up and I had to hit the cool button just into the 5th stage as the beans were passing FC and headed to charcoal. LOL

My iRoast2 did the same thing at about 4 months old. Had to send it back for warrenty repair. Seems to work fine now, but temps are different so it's a new learning curve.

I did another roast. I did a 3 stage profile instead of 5. 355/5m, 405/7m, 400/3m. I didn't touch the temp button during the roast. During previous roast I frequently pressed the temp button to check the temp. The roast went the full 15 minutes, the beans (Sumatra's) came out quite dark (FC+)? I also opened the machine and slightly closed the gap on the latch switch. I don't know which of the things I did caused it to go the full 15 minutes so next roast I'll try going 5 stages without touch the machine and see what happens.

I just did a 12 minute 5 stage roast and once again I didn't touch the machine and It went the full time. The beans are dark brown but not oily. 350/3min, 375/2min, 405/2min, 425/2min, 450/2min. I got all of my profile here using the search feature. I really like the look of these beans (Brazil) they were part of the 8 - 1/2 lb sample packs I got with my raoster. I think I'm going to try this profile on some of the other sample packs. Roasting under the range hood is working good since I fixed the damper, I like the I-Roast except I can't hear the 1st or 2nd crack but you do get a good view of the beans.

Sounds like your getting the hang of it. I like mine into 2C and just getting a sheen. I'll be doing my 2nd batch on the BBQ this weekend. It will also be my 2nd attempt at a blend. It's nice to be able to do larger batches than my iR2 allowed.
