I have been using P1 on the Behmor to determine when C1 starts. I have been able to manipulate the P2 profile very well using this data to have the dropoff occur whenever I desire using this info about C1. However, I am totally confused about the best time for the dropoff to occur with respect to C1. I have seen various postings suggesting the dropoff start 1 minute before or after or at the start of C1, and even one suggesting temps be lowered at the conclusion of C1.
What is the method that pro roasters use when pulling back on temperatures, or is there no rule at all and for cryin' out loud am going to have to keep experimenting?
Grumble, grumble: adjust the dose/distribution/temp/grind/pressure/rest/tamp/roast temp/roaster load/profile/bean/$$$$/.....
I am very interested in hearing from those who had succesful P2 roast too.
I do not have my behmor yet, and i plan to perform a few P2 roast at different timing when i get it. In my popper, wich react almost instantly, I used to slow the heat ramp up after c1 was complete, that is what i liked best in the cup. I think that I read that in one of the books from Kenneth Davids. Since You must anticipate with the behmor, i suppose that 10 to 20 sec before end of 1c is the perfect timing for the dropoff to occur.
I know this is not of much help to you, but please keep us informed of your progress and results.
