Sunpentown has a new turbo oven coming out soon. Always wished the TO-CO tops were a little faster reacting. The new one has a nano carbon fiber heating element and will be the model SO 2002 this is the response I received from Sunpentown. "Thank you for your interest in our products.
The SO-2002 is not available yet, but should be here in about a week or so. The heating element is made of a nano carbon fiber. That translates to a better heat penetration effect and quicker heating time." The pic is of a nano carbon fiber element I found on the web it should be something like this.
I just bought a 'StirCrazy' at a Goodwill for $5.00. I already have a SC-TO, but couldn't pass up the price(I have turned into my father). So now that Sunpentown is coming out with a new TO, perhaps this is a sign that I should have another homeroaster.
Atleast I'll try to persuade my wife into seeing it as a sign, she tends to beleive in that sort of non-sense.
No pid'd yet but plan to add one(never used PID before, still trying to determine which model of pid is most appropriate and how it's connected, anyone have a suggestion?). So far I replaced the convection motor with a variable speed (sewing machine) 0-6000rpm motor. And have a variac will a Kill-A-Watt meter and on-off switch on the heating element. Ed

I have a PID on my P1 popper. You'll need a solid state relay to connect the PID to the roaster, the controller can't handle line voltage. The thermocouple for the PID can either monitor the beans or the heater air temp, you'll have to make a choice. You can find a lot of info about PID's here or alt.coffee or just Google it.
