Just wondering whether by design or by accident a nice 'blend' was achieved by mixing different roast levels of the same bean?

I've done this intentionally with the Java Jampit bean. I use an FR+8 and I did one batch just through 1st crack and a second batch just about all the way through 2nd crack and ended up with a great cup. I've always wondreed if I would get the same results (taste) if I did a batch that was at exactly the mid-point between my two roasts? I guess that this is all just part of the fun of roasting.

I routinely do two or more roasts of the same SO and then blend them. I have achieved some really nice results. The lighter roast portion of the blend will often bring some fruit and floral notes into the blend that are lost in darker roasts.

To answer BurntBeans question - No, in my experience the result will not be the same by simply roasting a single batch at an intermediate time rather than blending a lighter and a darker roast.
