I got my sunpentown yesterday from newegg.  These ovens all look pretty much the same.  I live in Florida and it was pretty warm, in the mid 60's last night but I did 2 roasts and never pushed the temps up past 400.  Both were 200g and hit first at about 11min.  The first roast finished at the start of second at 13min and with the second roast I was able to streach it to 16min but cutting back on the temp and lifting the handle to shut off the TO for a few seconds.  Very even roasts.   Maybe due to the slower ramps but first crack was not as audible compared to my experience with HG and FR+ roasting.  I couldn't be happier with the ease, control and eveness of this roasting method.  Now the proof will be in the tasting.  I would like to play with the volume to see what's the upper limit for this roaster.  I'm just happy I'm not doing the stirring : >)

That's good to hear that that small of a batch worked in this style roaster.  I was under the impression that anything under ~ 1/2 lb. wouldnt work very well.  Let us know how it turned out!

Recieved Betty today and here's a shocker...... the botom bowl part was shattered! Oh well, thank goodness I didn't tell them I needed the top.  So now I'm trying to recieve some sort of compensation for the bottom. I still get to hopefully make some good coffee while I wait for the refund.  This is why I can't stand UPS. Thanks for letting me vent.....I'm calm now. Joe

I'll post pics later tonite, my brother- in- law wants  to paint(air brush) the setup like flames and stuff. He also wanted to paint my popper. I think I'm going to let him. He'll be back from Idaho in a week or so.

Joe,

Where'd you get Betty?  For that cheap, I'm guessing eBay?

Yep Ebay. Ebay strikes again. But I've been doing some searches and some of the names listed on the first page can be had at a good price. Some are even buy it now, Which is what I did. Make sure you purchase with a credit card so it's insured. Did my first roast some mexican about a lb. Turned out great. Man I didn't know what I was missing before. I did some thermometer mod that I'll share tomarrow with some pics.

Joe
