I have been looking for an app to find specialty coffee. Something that's curated to an extent to filter out the cruft. I haven't found anything like this so I figure, hey I'm a developer, I'll make this and use it as an opportunity to learn some new frameworks.
The key differentiator is a mixture of user generated content with curation. There will be the ability for user added listings/reviews (like Yelp). However content will be vetted by trusted enthusiasts. New reviewers will require their reviews to be vetted before their reviews show up, and they are able to vet others. The initial user base will be invited coffee industry professionals whose opinions are trusted.
My questions to the coffee community at large:
Is this something that you would use?
Does something like this already exist? If so, are you happy with it? How could it be improved?

I bought CoffeeGuru awhile back which was built so you could find "indie" coffeehouses. Unfortunately, it just didn't have enough info to actually be useful. So yeah, curated would be nice along with user submissions. But it's obviously a lot of work to build the database out. If there was an app with a solid database, I would love it!
